Stuck somewhere?

Rive is designed to be fairly difficult even from the start, but if you don't know what your supposed to do then that difficulty can feel more like a wall then a challenge. So! in this little guide I've got some tips and tricks to overcome some of it's challenges.

Lightfoot Javelineer:

-Although he uses a melee at the start he will never use it again, so don't worry about it.

-His javelin attacks are always yellow, so if time it right you can throw your axe as he attacks, destroying the projectile and damaging him.

-If your not very good at timing then just throw your axe at him whenever, you'll jump higher without it so jumping over those javelins should be easier.

The Captain:

-This guy is immune and will deflect your axe throw attacks, so try to stick mid to close range.

-Don't bother with sanity on this guy, you won't have enough time between his attacks to escape unharmed.

-He's got atleast a second of wind up for all his attacks so if your in close then try backing up a bit once he starts preparing something.

-If you stand right on top of him he won't be able to damage you with his dash attack.

-His last phase can be pretty tricky with those archers there, but if you stick to the right then you'll be out of their range. Then lower him past one more recovery point and he will use his final attack which will kill you if your in it's range no matter what. So my advice is to try and hold on to one or two pieces of armour for this phase and then get rid of your axe and run to the safe side of him (always left). Once he's done that final attack he won't be doing anything else so you can pick up your axe, kill the archers if you want, and finish him.

The Platforming Section:

-While some timing is required for this part that last platforming spike might be a little unclear on how your supposed to pass it. The key is to make sure you hit it when your as far above it as you can, hitting it as you fall back down is fine two. And if you mess up the timing well just spam to attack button and hope you don't die!

The Trapper:

-Stuck on your first real bossfight?

-It is very beneficial to take out the trappers sanity as it can be done before the end of their first phase! An efficient way of doing this is sticking to the bottom of the room and throwing your axe up at them when their own the outer wall, catching it as it falls back down, moving behind some cover, and then using your scare.

-You won't be able to jump up to the middle platform while your holding your axe, and the jump height isn't effected if you pick up the axe part way through a jump. So if you throw it into a wall then jump through it on your way up you'll be ready and bearing arms as you go up to meet the trapper!

-If you take the time to melee every trap they place you'll find them recovering some health every rotation, so instead throw your axe through all of them.

-After the first phase the trapper can start placing flashbang traps, these can really become a problem if they stack up. So if you need to destroy them while dodging attacks try waiting for them to throw their knives and then jumping and down attacking one of them to get extra height. Also whenever the trapper climbs down to one of the bottom corners they'll stand there for about second without attacking, if you use this right with melee's you can skip their final phase.
